Week of November 25

Hi everyone,

A short week this week. Here is what I have planned:

Computers 1
Students will continue creating worksheets in Excel. Wednesday will be a make up day for students to complete any missing work.

Business Concepts
I postponed starting the credit chapter until this week. Students will look at a credit card statement and learn about different types of credit. There should be no outside homework.

Business Law
Students have now completed all chapter tests for this class. For the remainder of the semester, we will do a variety of activities, many focusing on current events. This week, we will focus on healthcare.

On Monday, students will research how other countries provide healthcare to citizens. They will also be given a survey to ask an adult to complete asking a few brief questions about the Affordable Care Act. Surveys will be due Wednesday. On Tuesday they will learn how the Affordable Care Act works and arguments for and against its implementation. On Wednesday, we will review the survey results.

I think that's it for this week. Have a good one and Happy Thanksgiving!

Week of November 4

Hi everyone,

We've made it to November. It's hard to believe it, but we only have seven more weeks left in this semester. Here is what I have planned for this week:

Computers 1
Students will continue working in Excel, using the SUM function and applying basic formatting.

Business Concepts
This week we will start chapter 6, over checking accounts. Students will complete a checking account packet provided by First National Bank. The packet will be completed in class, with participation points awarded daily for working in class. Finished packets will be worth 150 points, which is the equivalent of approximately three tests. There should be no outside homework this week.

Business Law
We will start chapter 6 this week, over contract law. Students will learn about offer and acceptance and the requirements of a contract. They will complete case briefs of actual contract disputes. There should be no outside homework this week.

I think that's it for this week. Have a good one!
