Week of January 19-22

Hi everyone. First, I'm going to post the grades for all classes. Grades are organized by student number. Business concepts grades include the test taken on Friday.

1st hour

2nd hour

5th hour

6th hour

7th hour

9th hour

I'm still experimenting with ways to display the grades, but this should work for now. We have a short week, due to MLK day. I will not be at school Tuesday due to a conference and again on Thursday when I chaperone a field trip. After that, I hopefully won't have to be out again for awhile.

8th grade computers
Continuing typing lessons out of the book. Taking timings to see if speed has improved.

Business concepts
Beginning a chapter on consumer rights and responsibilities. While I am out Tuesday and Thursday, students will create a Powerpoint about identify theft using information they find on their Internet. They may work alone or with a partner. On Wednesday and Friday, we will begin notes for the chapter.

Web page 2
Students will design their own form using the techniques we have learned in this chapter. Next, we will start a chapter about templates.

I think that's all for the upcoming week. Let me know if you have any questions.

Schedule edit for business concepts

I usually try to avoid making changes to the planned schedule during the week, so that students/parents only need to check in once per week. But, I have decided to have a test over chapter 1 in business concepts this Friday, January 15. I forgot we will be out of school Monday for MLK day and don't want to test over the material after a 3-day weekend. Just wanted to make everyone aware of the change.

Week of January 11-15

Hi everyone! I'm starting up the blog again for this semester's classes. Because of snow days, I have only seen students two days this semester. I'm planning to post grades on the blog this semester, but so far, I don't have any to post. Here's a quick run-down of the schedule for this week.

8th grade computers
Typing lessons out of the book. Reviewing all keys on the keyboard and focusing on accuracy.

Business concepts
Covering a chapter on consumers and their role in the economy. We will discuss smart buying decisions, different types of economies, and supply vs. demand. All notes taken in class will be graded when we have a test. No tests scheduled for this week.

Web page 2
We will begin in Dreamweaver, learning how to create forms for user feedback on web pages.

I think that's all for this week. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me mdunn@fayette.k12.il.us
