Week of September 29

Hi everyone,

It's hard to believe we will start the month of October this week. On Thursday and Friday, parent-teacher conferences are scheduled. They will be held 3 p.m.-6 p.m. on Thursday and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. I hope to meet many of you and would also love for you to get a chance to check out the new computer lab/classroom. If you aren't able to make it to conferences, please feel free to e-mail or call me any time. Here is what I have planned for this week:

Computers 1
On Monday, we will review chapter 2, covering MLA-formatted research papers. On Tuesday, students will take a test over the chapter. On Wednesday, we will start the final chapter in Word, which covers letterheads and business letters.

Business Concepts
On Monday, we will review chapter 3, over careers and job searching. On Tuesday, students will take a test over the chapter and I will collect chapter notes. On Wednesday and Thursday, students will work in groups to create PowerPoints about identity theft. On Friday, my business concepts class will not meet due to the early dismissal.

Business Law
We will continue chapter 4 this week over criminal law. On Monday, students will get into groups and choose a famous criminal trial to research. Over the next couple of weeks, each group will write a paper, create a PowerPoint, and give a 3-5 minute presentation over a famous criminal trial. This is the largest project of the semester and is worth over 100 points. Students will also receive participation points for working each day in class. On Friday, chapter 4 study guides will be due.

I think that's it for this week. Have a good one and I hope to see you at parent-teacher conferences!

MD
